Working with Newcomers
MCSCS’s key role for newcomers is to train, educate, and provide comprehensive support to ensure smooth transition into Manitoba’s construction workforce by hosting mentorship events for clients and counsellors at immigrant serving agencies and connecting newcomers to employment opportunities in construction.
MCSC Newcomer Stories: Danise Adora & Anna Amoah
Danise Adora is a newcomer to Manitoba who interned at Manitoba Construction Sector Council as an administrative assistant and Anna Amoah is a project administrator at Concord Projects in Winnipeg. Both tell their stories of how they came to Manitoba, and the exciting job opportunities they have found in the construction industry.
MCSC Newcomer Stories: Lekan Kehinde
Lekan Kehinde works with Colliers Project Leaders as a Project Manager, a role which he has held since early 2022. Lekan is a newcomer to Manitoba and brought his family here from Lagos, Nigeria.
MCSC Newcomer Stories: Oleg Maslennikov
Oleg Maslennikov is from Kharkiv, Ukraine. He is now working with Bird Construction as an Energy Performance Coordinator. Oleg participates in many energy-efficiency projects throughout the application, commissioning, and validation stages.

Contact MeRamir is a journeyperson electrician, a high school instructor and a coordinator of education and training. He hosts career awareness events with youth, immigrants, women and Indigenous people. Ramir collaborates with industry to develop and deliver construction micro courses that ladder adults to high school, Apprenticeship and post-secondary programs.
