Celebrating Women in Construction
MCSC's Commitment to Inclusive Construction

MCSC in service of women in the trades
MCSC takes pride of being committed to foster diversity and inclusion within the construction industry. With the generous support of the Government of Manitoba, we collaborate with industry leaders and stakeholders to create innovative programs aimed at empowering underrepresented groups, including women, to embark on successful careers in construction.
We do this by hosting an annual woman in trades conference, hosting a woman in trades workshop, an employer workshop for recruiting and retaining women, and by featuring women’s success stories in publications and social media.
Women in Trades Retention Strategy
From young women’s trades awareness events and post-secondary trades training programs, to employers of varying sizes, as well as government- and industry-funded women’s organizations, the last 10 – 15 years have seen an increase in programming related to women in trades. The efforts in this regard have largely been on recruitment. Colleges, trade schools and industry have taken steps to increase interest and engagement on the part of women to consider trades and related occupations. This report outlines a series of recommendations to retain women in the trades.
