This is a 3-day immersive course designed to equip students with foundational and applied knowledge of LiDAR technology and its integration with drones and extended reality (xR) environments. This training prepares learners to collect, process, and apply high-resolution spatial data for construction, infrastructure, and environmental scenarios. Participants will engage in guided field missions, extended reality modelling, and scenario-based exercises supported by industry professionals. Topics include:
- End-to-end LiDAR fundamentals, drone platforms, and real-world scanning missions
- Field-based LiDAR deployment using drones with compliance and safety protocols
- LiDAR data processing workflows, formatting, and integration with BIM and CAD
- Extended Reality (xR) technologies including RealityCapture and Unreal Engine
- Advanced use cases in construction, infrastructure, risk management, and training simulations
- Scenario modeling for real-world and speculative environments such as floodplains, landfills, and lunar applications
Audience: Open to the public; designed for professionals, students, and drone enthusiasts interested in LiDAR, construction technology, and virtual modeling
Assessment Methods: Field participation logs, hands-on data integration, and applied scenarios
