Description
The Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC) has collaborated with industry partners to create a Concrete Forms micro credential that is designed to address skill gaps in the construction industry throughout Manitoba. This program is designed for current entry level construction workers, or for individuals who are interested in a career in construction.
The Concrete Forms course combines classroom and practical learning activities. It will teach technical skills (knowledge of tools, equipment and processes) and will embed safety training and Essential Skills throughout the program (reading, measurement, document use, communication, physical dexterity, working with others). The classroom hours include hands on construction practice which allows the students to gain practical experience; helping them find permanent employment in the construction sector.
Career Opportunities: Graduates of this program can find employment in the construction industry in Manitoba.

Module 1: Describe a career working as a concrete form worker
Module 2: Explain the requirements of a building site
Module 3: Describe the methods of wall form construction
Module 4: Complete basic formwork practical applications
Module 5: Explain the characteristics of residential foundations
Module 6: Complete basic residential foundation construction practical applications
Module 7: Explain the characteristics of flatwork
Module 8: Complete basic flatwork construction practical applications
Module 9: Demonstrate an understanding of heavy construction tasks using concrete forms
Module 10: Complete basic heavy construction practical applications
Module 11: Describe the characteristics and uses of precast concrete
Module 12: Complete precast concrete construction practical applications
Module 13: Complete concrete mix and placement practical applications
Module 14: Complete concrete formwork calculations

Micro Credential Certification: Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT)
Completion Requirements
- Minimum grade of 70% in each course
- Successful completion of practical applications
Credit Transfer
Learners may apply to an apprenticeship or the colleges for transfer credit.
