Description
Basic Drone Certification: The program provides technical skills to introduce and integrate drones into the construction sector for improved safety, efficiency, and environment-friendly operations. The course prepares students to write the pilot certification for basic operations.
Learning Outcomes:
- CAR Part IX rules and Canadian AIM Concepts, Risk Management, Safety Management Systems (SMS), aircraft capabilities and performance characteristics, mission types, and “hands-on” UAS operation.
Advanced Drone Course– The advanced course is an industry-driven capstone for students seeking a career path in drone technology.
Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate flight theory, operational checklists, and mission execution
- Explore payloads, data collection, and interconnected technologies
- Engage with mentors to practice UAS maneuvers

Entrance Requirements
Participants should have:
- A background and/or interest in construction
- A background and/or interest in surveying, cartography, or aerial photography
- (Optional) Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations
Accreditation
Participants who complete the training will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC).
Completion Requirements
To earn the certificate, students must:
- Attend at least 80% of instructional time
- Achieve a minimum grade of 70% on all evaluated components
- Successfully complete the UAS field practicum
- Completion of Pilot Certificate – Basic Operations is optional but encouraged
