The Operator Driver opportunity starts as a one-year term training opportunity with the potential to transfer to full-time employment as a Manitoba Hydro Operator Driver. Those in the Operator Driver Program will be classified as a Labourer for first six months and then progress to an Operator Driver I when training requirements are complete. Full training progression consists of on-the-job training with two levels of competency-based schools that will lead to attaining Operator Driver II certification. During your paid training, you will be exposed to work and equipment training opportunities at various locations throughout the province.
Trainees must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and are expected to follow all safety protocols and Safe Work Procedures.

As part of the selection process, candidates will be required to complete a questionnaire to determine how well a candidate’s abilities match the requirements of the job. Candidates will also participate in a 1-day pre-employment skills assessment and trade orientation session, which provides candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to follow instruction and transfer knowledge. Candidates selected for this session will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract.
