Power Electrician/Mechanical Technician Indigenous Pre-Placement Training Program

Job Description

We are seeking Indigenous candidates interested in training for a career as a Power Electrician or Mechanical Technician.
Our Pre-Placement Training Program is a twelve-month program designed to provide Indigenous candidates with on-the-job training
and academic upgrading to meet the minimum requirements to qualify and compete for a position in the Power Electrician or
Mechanical Technician Training Programs.
While there is no guarantee of ongoing employment at the completion of the Pre-Placement Program, those who successfully
complete the Pre-Placement program will be considered for the four-year Power Electrician or Mechanical Technician programs.
These programs include additional on-the-job training, trade schools and formal college classes.
During your training, you will be stationed at various locations throughout the province and may require relocation to Northern
Manitoba.
– Assist Technicians and Journeypersons to install, test and perform regular maintenance on equipment.
– Assist with troubleshooting, making necessary repairs under regular and emergency conditions.

Qualifications:
– High school graduate.
– Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence (intermediate or full).
– Maintain a level of physical fitness and mental alertness appropriate for the duties you are performing.
– Physical coordination; manual dexterity.
– Ability to lift heavy objects from a variety of physical positions.
– Be able to work as a member of a team and adapt to changing tasks and locations.
– Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
– Be able to work autonomously and make decisions in stressful situations.
– Have good hearing and accurate colour perception.
– Have basic computer skills.
– Mechanical aptitude.
– Be willing to acquire an approved set of personal hand tools.
