Job Description

We are seeking a permanent Plumber Journeyperson to join our Generation Operations & Maintenance Business Support
Department in Gillam, Manitoba.

Job Details

Principal Duties

Responsibilities:
– Responsible for all plumbing installations, maintenance, repairs, modifications, and remodeling of existing structures.
– Perform plumbing and pipefitting installation and maintenance on water, sewage, compressed air, heating, and air
conditioning systems associated with corporate housing, office, and camp operations.
– Perform all emergency service on equipment as needed.
– Operate power tools as required to perform the duties of the job.
– Mechanical maintenance on heating boilers, pumps, fans, air compressors, motors, and other associated equipment.
– Required to be on standby on a rotational basis.
– Provide direction to junior staff assigned to work area.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
– Grade 10 education or equivalent.
– Knowledge of the building codes and standards laid down for domestic and industrial areas.
– Knowledge and experience in brazing, welding, and soldering techniques and the application, installation, and repair of plastic
pipe and fittings.
– Fully conversant with and adhere to safety regulations relative to the trade and Manitoba Hydro safety rules.
– Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and to effectively supervise junior personnel.
– Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position in all types of conditions both indoors and outdoors.
– Possess an approved set of hand tools.
– Experience with installation of duct work and HRV systems.
– Minimum of one year of experience in the maintenance of plumbing systems associated with commercial and residential
installations.
– Red seal standing as a Journeyperson plumber.
– Gas ticket would be an asset.
– Ability to work with a minimum of supervision from diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and oral and written instruction.
– Knowledge with the requirements of the National Plumbing Code and safe working practices.
– Must understand and adhere to Manitoba Hydro Safety Rules and other approved practices and procedures.
– Must possess/maintain a valid Province of Manitoba Drivers Licence.
