Position Overview:
We are seeking qualified individuals to train for a career as a Natural Gas Maintenance Person.
This 4-year apprenticeship program includes on-the-job training and 10 weeks of competency-based classroom training that prepares you for a career as a Natural Gas Maintenance person. Natural Gas Maintenance Persons maintain, repair, abandon, modify and inspect the natural gas distribution and transmission system including pipelines, meter installations, pressure control installations and related facilities.

Position Overview:
We are seeking qualified individuals to train for a career as a Natural Gas Maintenance Person.

Natural Gas Maintenance Persons maintain, repair, abandon, modify and inspect the natural gas distribution and transmission system including pipelines, meter installations, pressure control installations and related facilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence and be capable of obtaining a Class 3 with air endorsement.
- It is the Corporation’s preference that you regularly reside within the Winnipeg headquarters zone or within 40 km driving distance from it. Upon becoming a qualified Natural Gas Maintenance Person, and during periods of standby, employees will reside within 40 km driving distance on all-weather roads to Portage and Main. (NOTE: Should this requirement cause the employee to incur incremental costs during periods of standby, such costs will be the employee’s responsibility). You will be required to advise management of the location of your residence within the 40 minutes driving distance and update them of any changes in the future;
OR - For rural positions, the successful applicant will reside within the applicable Customer Service Centre geographical boundary and within a 50 kilometre travelling distance from their assembly point during periods of standby. (NOTE: In the event that this requirement causes the employee to incur incremental costs during periods of standby, such costs will be the employee’s responsibility).
- Enjoy physically demanding work in all types of weather.
- Capable of working at heights on ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, roof tops and mechanical lifts.
- Be prepared to work with higher pressure natural gas and mechanical and electrical systems while adhering to established safety procedures.
- Be prepared to work in confined spaces, trenches and excavations with hazardous products while conforming to established safety procedures.
- Be prepared to periodically participate in a standby rotation.
- Be prepared to interact with customers as required.
- Previous experience in a trade requiring a mechanical aptitude would be considered an asset.

The selection process includes aptitude testing, a panel interview, and a one-day Manitoba Hydro sponsored Skills Assessment and Trades Orientation program. Candidates selected for an interview must provide a current driver’s abstract at the time of their interview.

Salary Range
Natural Gas Maintenance Trainee: $20.90-$33.69 Hourly, $40,056.38-$64,559.82 Annually
Natural Gas Maintenance Person: $38.01-$44.20 Hourly, $72,829.90-$84,697.08 Annually
