Job Description

Reporting to the Supervisor, Oil Processing, the L1 Oil Processor is responsible to dry and perform the processing of all transformers for power testing and shipping in accordance with engineering instruction and PTI’s specifications, Under supervision and guidance.

Job Details

Principal Duties

• Drying of the transformer, operating and monitoring the drying cycle ensuring unit dryness to specifications, recording the temperature, dew point, vacuum and water reading results.
• Preparing transformer for test by purging tank with drying air during tanking operation, recording vacuum and water reading, finding and repairing any leaks, filling for hot oil circulation as required, performing pressure tests, draining and completing final filling of oil and conducting various oil tests as per American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards, Manufacturing Instructions (MI) and PTI’s specifications
• Taking oil samples, measuring dew point, monitoring trends
• Processing transformers for final shipment
• Performing preventive maintenance on equipment /machinery in accordance with manufacturer and operational requirements and monitoring oil inventory
• Completing work assignments to established practices and MI specifications

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tool use
• Basic knowledge of ASTM standards and MI procedures
• Experience operating overhead-crane, forklift and aerial platform is an asset
• Welding experience is an asset
• Manufacturing experience from 0 to 2 years, is an asset
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, and bill of material including terms and abbreviations as required to complete work assignments is an asset
• Ability to work in both metric and imperial dimensions
• Basic mathematics knowledge. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, switch from one task to another, or perform two or more tasks in rapid succession
• Effective problem-solving skills (analytical and creative problem solving)
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
• Ability to obtain the following training as required: overhead crane rigging and slinging, confined Space entry, fall protection, aerial platforms, ladder, front and loader, WHMIS, forklift, first aid and other safe work training applicable to Oil Processing
