Job Description
Under the general direction of the Architectural Supervisor or designate, the incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing, altering and constructing woodwork, furniture and fixtures throughout the Centre in offices and wards, and building interior and exterior structures and roofs as required. Uses and maintains a wide variety of power and hand tools such as saws, planers, drills, hammers and screwdrivers.

Principal Duties
- Position requires heavy lifting, bending, working in elevated places on various pieces of equipment (i.e. scaffolds, ladders) and the ability to work in confined spaces.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum five years’ experience in all facets of structural and architectural building maintenance, ward/office furniture repair, and other specialized millwork construction/repair used in a health care facility.
EDUCATION
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Must be qualified as a Journeyman Carpenter (Province of Manitoba).
- Door Hardware Institute Certificate, Fire Stopping Certificate and Roofing Industry Education Institute Certificate preferred.
- Must complete Man Lift Equipment training provided by the Centre.
CERTIFICATION
- Certificate as Journeyman Carpenter.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Must have excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
